Bluestone mine

In the picturesque village of Recht, Rechter Blauwe Steen was mined for centuries, a craft that shaped the village from the 18th to the 20th century. Where once there were above-ground quarries, the Margraff brothers dug an extra gallery deep into the earth in 1890. Thanks to the efforts of vzw Schieferstollen Recht, this impressive mine became accessible again and opened its doors to visitors in 2007.

On an 800-metre long route you walk through impressive mine tunnels and discover the fascinating world of the blue rocks. A visit does not reveal

only the secrets of the regional geological history, but also the harsh and dangerous working conditions of the miners. Do you dare to descend into this unique piece of heritage?

A journey through time

The atmospheric old railway building from the 19th century houses the museum Zwischen Venn und Schneifel, where you can discover regional history from different perspectives. Take a fascinating journey through time from Celtic and Roman times, through the Middle Ages, to the 20th century.

Admire archaeological finds, step into a dark room that refers to the “dark time”, and discover unique historical objects such as knightly helmets, castle finds and a cross from the Thirty Years' War.

A dive into the Middle Ages

The castle ruins of Burg-Reuland are one of the largest and most beautiful in the Ardennes. Once an imposing building from the 12th century, now an impressive complex of 55 by 65 meters, where history is still palpable.

Discover the castle via a free app with a local storyteller, who will take you back to the colorful past. Find out why the well was not only used for drinking water, but also played a strategic role in the defense of the castle. In the information pavilion, which still partly consists of the stones of the 17th century residential building, you will get a fascinating

overview of history and archaeological finds. From old documents and seals to fascinating excavations, the ruins bring the past to life. Let yourself be carried away to the Middle Ages and discover the secrets of Burg-Reuland!
